Wednesday April 11 demonstrations, free
Wednesdays mean demo days. Tomorrow its the very interesting Zoku ice pop maker. Here's what this little 3 pop maker ($48.99) does. It literally makes adorable ice pops in 7 minutes. The three compartment pop maker makes three pops, then take it out and make another three pops. The pop maker is kept in the freezer for 24 hours prior, take it out pour in liquid juice or chocolate milk or any freezable yummy mixture and in 7 minutes or so you pull out a perfect pop. Then we will make and roll out pie dough, make soda in the SodaStream and have an espresso from the Nespresso machine. If I have time, I'll miraculously make beets in the pressure cooker, chips in the chip maker. See you tomorrow

Sunday's at Chef Fran's
Well I have to admit, Sunday's are the rage at Chef Fran's at Buckingham 36 Audrey Avenue. Oyster Bay. First let me walk you through the experience. You come in the door and expect the same old Buckingham's, not that there's anything wrong with a place that you can get wooden clothespins and old fashioned candy in the same place...but then you see spanking new Chef Fran's Kitchenware shop within a shop. Chef Fran has been seriously professionally cooking on long Island for 30 years (I don't look a day over 35 so how is that possible) as Fran Zaslow Caterers (still doing business ) Fran (that's me) was the Head Chef at TransAmerica Interway, Sands Point Bath and Racket Club, Fred S. James, Co. and of course her own catering business for all those years. So Fran knows cooking equipment and here is a place I get to show people how to use all the gadgets and gizmos. My new fav is the Microwave potato chipper that comes with its own slicer (mandolin) and a special try for microwave baking 4mm thin slices of potatoes. A must have. Nespresso is demoed daily and I've mastered the Australian and New Zealand specialty "Flat White". Really! So shop early and shop often, bring the girls, bring mom, bring the husbands for a shot of Espresso and Sambucca (can I say this in a blog). See you guys soon
What's new from Chicago Housewares Show
You must come to historic Oyster Bay, seriously Historic: like Teddy Roosevelt is buried here, his summer Whitehouse is here, Planting Field's zillion acres of amazing is here, Raynham hall is here, and the living legend Elizabeth Roosevelt comes into Buckingham Variety Store where Chef Fran's kitchenware happens to be located. Mother's Day is coming soon so here is the place to see live demo's of Nespresso machines ($229), SodaStream ($99.00)that phenom of making your own bubbly for a fraction of the cost, plus no extra plastic in the environment, the also phenomenal Chip maker ($22.00) that comes with its own version of a 4 mm slicer and a magical tray for doing chips in the microwave in 4 minutes. And my extreme love of loves, the Cuisenart Electric pressure Cooker($99.00). Yes its true I made a cheese cake in 8 minutes. This week I'm trying Matzo balls. Oh did I mention those glorious wine aerators ($20.00) Plus amazing joseph Joseph 9 nesting bowls set ($50.00) and their can't keep in stock garlic rockers ($10.00). I'm a Mom and GrandMom and I would all of this as gifts. Ofcourse I have to add I am a foodie!!!
